book review format Who doesn’t know the classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his spectral Christmas Eve dreams? Renowned director Robert Zemeckis (Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Forrest Gump, Contact, Castaway, The Polar Express, Beowulf) has applied his signature stamp to this beloved tale, and will be sharing it with audiences on November 6, 2009–just in time for the holidays. This sumptuous hybrid Making of/Art of book will introduce readers to the world behind Zemeckis’s camera, revealing the secrets of performance-capture technology, and displaying its singular style in a deluxe, artistic format. Fans of Jim Carrey will delight in reading about his performance, not only as Mr. Bah Humbug himself, but also as the ghosts of Christmas past, present, AND future! This gorgeous book–containing gatefolds and a ribbon–is sure to be at the top of everyone’s Christmas list! With 156 pages fully illustrated, this hardcover book provides photos and scenes from the movie showing the locations in as great a splendor as the movie provides. Well-written and illustrated it brings the story of Scrooge to life. And along with the visual delight, you get written information about the movie and sets, and more. The concept art for this movie is created by production designer Doug Chiang and his group of artists at Image Movers Digital, a studio run by Robert Zemeckis and Disney specializing in performance capture and CGI. There are plenty of art on locations and cool architecture since Charles Dicken’s story was set in 1840s London. You’ll see sets like Big Ben clock tower, Scrooge’s English house, city streets and the other sets used in the animated film. There are also character designs, some miniatures, sculptures and 3D renderings. Not surprisingly, the 3D characters resemble their life voice actors, who are Jim Carrey (except for old Scrooge), Gary Oldman, Bob Hoskins, and Robin Wright Penn among others. Memory foam mattress topper If you are a 3D artist, enthusiast, or just love 3d movies, then you will really enjoy this book! It goes through the creative process of how sets and characters were created, as well as arriving at camera angle and set solutions throught practical means, though not getting deep into the the 3d and CG lingo that any reader wouldn’t understand. Plot: Charles Dickens’ timeless tale of an old miser who must face Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet-to-Come, as they help to bring kindness to his otherwise cold heart. The Ghosts remind him of the man he used to be, the hard truth of what the world is today, and what will happen if he does not strive to be a better man. Set around Christmas, the most joyous day of the year, Scrooge realizes the sharp contrast of his own personality. A Christmas Carol is a 2009 film written and directed by Robert Zemeckis. It is an adaptation of the Charles Dickens story of the same name and stars Jim Carrey in a multitude of roles, including Ebenezer Scrooge as a young, middle-aged, and old man, and the three ghosts who haunt Scrooge. The 3-D film was produced through the process of motion capture, a technique Zemeckis previously used in his films The Polar Express (2004) and Beowulf (2007). It received its world premiere in London, coinciding with the switching on of the annual Oxford Street and Regent Street Christmas lights, infant car seat covers which in 2009 had a Dickens theme. Charles John Huffam Dickens was an English novelist, generally considered the greatest of the Victorian period. Dickens enjoyed a wider popularity and fame than had any previous author during his lifetime, and he remains popular, having been responsible for some of English literature’s most iconic novels and characters. Jacob Marley is a fictional character who appears in Charles Dickens’ 1843 novella A Christmas Carol. how to write a book review http://www.youtube.com-TheDougieowner

Hi there everyone! Sorry for not having a video for a while, but hopefully I’m now back. I’ll explain where I was in a minute, but first here’s the ratings I gave the book…

Characters — 10-10.
Plot — 10-10.
Writing — 9.5-10.
Enjoyment — 9.5-10.
Overall — 9.8-10.

It was my favourite book of the year and will also be one of my favourites of all time! 8D

So, where have I been, you ask? I’ve been busy, but everyone says that when they’re gone! It’s true, but let’s go into more detail…

In October I was busy in school doing quite a lot of controlled assessments in school which I had to revise and prepare for at home (and partly at school). For example, for Spanish I had to memorise around 500 words and then go into the lesson and write up the whole thing from memory. I spent quite a while learning it, but that all paid off as in my teacher’s opinion I got an A* (it has to be sent to the exam board for them to officially decide, so I hope she wasn’t too nice on me as I really want an A* in Spanish!).

Then in November I got my Microsoft Word Office out and began writing for National Novel Writing Month (or just simply ‘NaNoWriMo’). It was an incredible experience, but very tiring, too. I had to write a whole 50,000 word novel in the month, so that’s around 1,667 words to write per day. But I actually started late, meaning I had more words than that to write per day (I started on Day 6). Still though, I decided to catch up with what I should have been at if I started on the first and got on track. About halfway through, I was actually above my goal. So yeah, that competition took a lot of my time, especially my reading time (I wrote instead of read).

For most of December I haven’t actually been doing that much, so I can’t really make up any excuses for that. Aha. :L Well, I could say that I’ve been moving my bookshelf (there’ll be videos back with it in the New Year). It’s still in my bedroom, just in another place in order for my new piano, which I’m getting for Christmas, to go where it was. I’ve also been decorating the house for Christmas, wrapping presents and as soon as this video is posted, I’m actually about to go cooking stuff for Christmas Dinner (I’m making mushroom soup for starters and then gingerbread biscuits, Christmas cake, cinnamon buns, chocolate log and mince pies for dessert. Of course, the desserts will last us throughout the festive period. I like desserts, but wouldn’t eat all of those in one go!!).

But yeah, I hope I’m back. I’ll probably film a video on Sunday showing you what I got for Christmas, but I don’t know if it’ll be necessarily up on Sunday. It depends what time of day I film it as I’ll have to edit and then time will need to be needed to upload the thing. But yes, see you then…
