book review formatWho doesn’t know the classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his spectral Christmas Eve dreams? Renowned director Robert Zemeckis (Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Forrest Gump, Contact, Castaway, The Polar Express, Beowulf) has applied his signature stamp to this beloved tale, and will be sharing it with audiences on November 6, 2009–just in time for the holidays. This sumptuous hybrid Making of/Art of book will introduce readers to the world behind Zemeckis’s camera, revealing the secrets of performance-capture technology, and displaying its singular style in a deluxe, artistic format. Fans of Jim Carrey will delight in reading about his performance, not only as Mr. Bah Humbug himself, but also as the ghosts of Christmas past, present, AND future! This gorgeous book–containing gatefolds and a ribbon–is sure to be at the top of everyone’s Christmas list! With 156 pages fully illustrated, this hardcover book provides photos and scenes from the movie showing the locations in as great a splendor as the movie provides. Well-written and illustrated it brings the story of Scrooge to life. And along with the visual delight, you get written information about the movie and sets, and more. The concept art for this movie is created by production designer Doug Chiang and his group of artists at Image Movers Digital, a studio run by Robert Zemeckis and Disney specializing in performance capture and CGI. There are plenty of art on locations and cool architecture since Charles Dicken’s story was set in 1840s London. You’ll see sets like Big Ben clock tower, Scrooge’s English house, city streets and the other sets used in the animated film. There are also character designs, some miniatures, sculptures and 3D renderings. Not surprisingly, the 3D characters resemble their life voice actors, who are Jim Carrey (except for old Scrooge), Gary Oldman, Bob Hoskins, and Robin Wright Penn among others. Memory foam mattress topper If you are a 3D artist, enthusiast, or just love 3d movies, then you will really enjoy this book! It goes through the creative process of how sets and characters were created, as well as arriving at camera angle and set solutions throught practical means, though not getting deep into the the 3d and CG lingo that any reader wouldn’t understand. Plot: Charles Dickens’ timeless tale of an old miser who must face Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet-to-Come, as they help to bring kindness to his otherwise cold heart. The Ghosts remind him of the man he used to be, the hard truth of what the world is today, and what will happen if he does not strive to be a better man. Set around Christmas, the most joyous day of the year, Scrooge realizes the sharp contrast of his own personality. A Christmas Carol is a 2009 film written and directed by Robert Zemeckis. It is an adaptation of the Charles Dickens story of the same name and stars Jim Carrey in a multitude of roles, including Ebenezer Scrooge as a young, middle-aged, and old man, and the three ghosts who haunt Scrooge. The 3-D film was produced through the process of motion capture, a technique Zemeckis previously used in his films The Polar Express (2004) and Beowulf (2007). It received its world premiere in London, coinciding with the switching on of the annual Oxford Street and Regent Street Christmas lights, infant car seat covers which in 2009 had a Dickens theme. Charles John Huffam Dickens was an English novelist, generally considered the greatest of the Victorian period. Dickens enjoyed a wider popularity and fame than had any previous author during his lifetime, and he remains popular, having been responsible for some of English literature’s most iconic novels and characters. book review formatSteve explains the format for today’s show. Channel is in Seg 5 and Q & A to the group is in Seg 6. We will return to the normal schedule next month.

SECRET SANTA Steve and Barbara are joined on stage by Jon Carl and Charmaine Lee from Foundation for Insight, they talked about the success of the Secret Santa program. This year we donated more than $5000 to the children at Oasis center. The Oasis Treatment Center consists of five treatment homes housing up to six emotionally disturbed children each, between the ages of six and eighteen. This is a permanent shelter for these children because these children cannot be placed due to emotional problems. The gifts to the kids were about $1000 and the rest went to improve living conditions. You really came through this year lightworkers, you touched some very impressionable hearts with your love and generosity. Nice work!

Janee reviews a new release “The Elusive Gift of Tragedy” by Regina Rose Murphy. About two years ago Regina son John, left us suddenly. Immediately John began to talk through Regina. In this book he wants to show us that death is merely a change in form and not the ultimate separation from those we love.

6 pages, double-spaced will take me about 3 hours to compose and edit.

i created a masterful 20 page report on nuclear energy discovery, implementation, nuclear weapons and disarmament, so i know the drill. i’ve got As in english composition and higher writing courses as i’ve almost got my technical writing cerficate.

the book is "magick, mayhem and mavericks".

it’s written in 6 parts, 5 chapters each, with each chapter being an average of 9 pages. there are 300 rather short pages.

my idea was to create a 10 sentence introductory paragraph, then start going through each "part" in 12 sentence paragraphs, with a formulaic format of introduction sentence, a 2-3 sentences on each chapter, and a concluding sentence or two. there is a prologue and epilogue which i then plan to discuss and critique, finally ending with a conclusion paragraph about the books strengths and weaknesses, which are actually touched upon in the preface.

i’ve an overachiever when it comes to writing. teachers ask for two paragraphs, and i can’t help but give 2 double-spaced pages, so i’m a "completist" when it comes to expressing myself in compositions. i find it effortless. the mind just flows.

thanks for any input.
the content isn’t the issue. it’s more of an outline question. my content is generally impressive to instructors, and as i’ve seen with the scores he’s given me for the "discussion" exercises where we take a topic on and reply to queries, also responding to posts made by other students, he’s actually given me over 100% on them. he’s one of those that’s very impressed with my writing ability. i make most of the "kids" 13 years younger than me look like they just got out of high school.

also, to the second answer, my review won’t have a prologue, it’s just that the book has a preface, introduction, prologue and epilogue where the author explains that she knows it’s a quick glance at the history of mathematics, chemistry and physics, and as far as my critique of how she accomplished her goal of writing this book, i was going to discuss her own commentary in the prologue and epilogue.

i know my formulaic "framing" as it’s called sounds obsessive, but it’s been acceptable to all so far.

That’s not overachieving, that’s crazy obsessive. There’s no way the _content_ of your writing would be improved by such a strict, formalized structure, and content is what your readers are looking for, not numbers of paragraphs and sentences.

That’s not outlining – outlining summarizes the points you want to make, it doesn’t specify number of sentences or paragraphs. My point is, this structure adds nothing to your review, bears no relation to any sane writing technique ever devised, and seems to exist only to satisfy your own compulsive urges. Drop it and concentrate on what you want to say, not how many sentences you’re going to say it in.
